(Challenging Adventure) - 28 Day Trip
Only a handful of trekkers have been privileged to trek in Bhutan and those that do are rewarded with an exceptional experience. Our trek along the borderlands of Bhutan and Tibet is demanding. We follow trails across not less than ten high passes, and beneath some of Bhutan's most spectacular peaks including Chomolhari (7314m), Jichu Drake (6794m), Tsenda Kang (7100m) and Songophu Gang (7100m). Our traverse focuses on the Lunana District, one of the most remote mountainous regions in Bhutan, and there will be few people we encounter except seasonal shepherds. We cross seven major passes in this area alone, making for a challenging trek, but it is not without reward. The alpine wilderness of the Eastern Himalaya is some of the most inspiring and picturesque. The trek is combined with time in Paro and Thimphu to appreciate Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. We operate our trip in October, when the weather is considered the most stable and clear generally clearer, although the occasional pre-winter storm can cause snowfalls on the higher passes.
